graduation

the end of a chapter. the beginning of another.

people say that 21 is when you become an adult. but you don't really become an adult when you turn 21. when you turn 21, you (being a figurative, completely general 'you') still go to school, live with your parents, get pocket money, have your days planned out before you, have marginal responsibilities. no. adulthood comes when you find a job, when you're self sufficient, when people depend on you, when you've more responsibilities than you've bargained for. adulthood comes when you've to make life changing decisions; what job to take, who to marry, when to have kids. you make decisions that you can never take back. when you approach adulthood, you approach the most change you'll ever experience in your lifetime. when you approach adulthood, you approach the time of your life when either the most regret or happiness happens.

people say that 21 is when you become an adult. heck, i'm 22, and i'm not ready to become one yet.
