in LA now. so cause of the fires, we drove down to LA in the middle of the night (at 2am no less). and in the extreme rush (all 10min notice before we set off) i didn't bring a lot. actually.. i barely brought ANYTHING. didn't expect to stay for this long but school's cancelled. so my like 2 sets of clothes has to last me the entire week. i forgot to bring my diary, along with a sweater and camera charger so i'm writing to remind myself....
met sel yesterday drove us to the grove. lovely place, very quaint with a trolley that brings u from one end to the other. nice little outdoor shopping/fancy resturant area. the farmer's market's like a uptown newton circus. brazillian food is goooood. diddy reese after - choice of 2 cookies with whatever icecream in the middle.. icecream sandwich for $1.25! and it was gooood. halloween store browsing after. i'm in AWE at the amount of costumes. the shop pales in comparison seriously. shame.
today we touristed. lunch at manhattan beach, where i'm told the sand is exported to hawaii and what. dinner at roscoes. soul food - chicken and waffles. like seriously.. they serve fried chicken which u have with gravvy or hot sauce, and waffles with syrup. on the same plate, in the same mouthfull. i totally raised an eyebrow, but it was gooood. i am sold. having dinner with all them bunch of friends made me miss friends at home.. with all the inside jokes and stupidity around the table.
we went to hollywood after. saw the kodak theatre. watched the nightmare before christmas in 3D!! at the el capitan. walked down hollywood boulevard after.. the stars along the pavements all. did the touristy (or not so touristy) thing at the chinese theatre, where the footprints and handprints are, touching the cement where probably 419491862495 other pple's hands from around the world have touched. johnny depp's was our favourite.
i've barely taken any pictures, i hope my camera battery doesn't die on me too soon. it will not be revived if it does. my host family's alright, their house is still in one piece thank god.
